It was for this reason that people hearing of the results of the American version of The “Tibetan Book of the Dead”, called “The Psychedelic Experience”, were disappointed when they dead-ended in the English versions.

In fact, Evans-Wentz’s book has been so influential it is surprising to learn that he translated only three chapters of the original work which, it turns out, is not even called The Tibetan Book of the Dead – that was his idea. I think the new introduction offers a lot of perspective 40 years later and really sets the stage for the writings of Leary and so forth. I dont recommend use of any drugs or mind altering substances because with drugs you come down and forget how you got there.
