Iggulden makes good use of everyday details from food, drink, clothes, ifgulden and shamanism to build a world and give us access to it. Books by Conn Iggulden. I loved how the author portrayed the people, tribe life, and how the different nomadic tribes became united, not to mention how they became a strong and a fearsome people.
In particular, the Song dynasty is a foe that is looming and must be dealt with. Arthur Wesley the future Duke of Wellington was born and bred to be a leader. With a firm belief that the nation must be led by a king, the red-coated British officer heads for battle against the French Republic, to restore the fallen monarchy.

I thought that the politics that came in to this book in pf the new khan was thrilling and it looks as though we will be going through that all over again in the final installment. The scene is being set for intrigue and civil war.
He valued other cultures and what they offered to his Kingdom. As friends and rivals, Gaius and Marcus are destined to find lasting fame. I suppose the one thing that links all those is the love of a good tale. I simply love Conn Iggulden’s writing! The book is kind of spotty until Part 3 and chapter His son Ogedai becomes khan, but not without incident. Which should be an exciting time filled with great generals, lots of warring and back stabbing. Another exhilarating read in the Conqueror series by Conn Iggulden.
This has been a great Historical Fiction series that I have enjoyed so much. Every page reeks of mutton lard, and is filled with hard-faced Mongol generals putting peaceful merchants to the sword and stealing their wives, whilst quaffing airag from goatskins. And then, there is the inevitable slide, as the warrior race becomes gentrified, and Genghis’s heirs start to feel the need to erect monuments to themselves in ‘Empire of Silver’.

It was already well established that Iggulden is incredibly well read with the historical aspect of the story and of course with the extremely vivid battle sequences, but re “Time slipped like oil through his hands and he could not hold a single instant of it” They were the original badasses.
My great-grandfather was a Seannachie, so I suppose story-telling is in the genes somewhere.

It is still a superb read, and I commend it to you. Now, even as they struggle for supremacy among themselves, Genghis’s sons and grandsons extend the reach of his vision, taking their armies farther than ever before, into southern China and across the steppes and rugged mountains of Russia to the vulnerable heart of Europe, where they will face the most courageous silger the West commands.
The need for the young to flex their muscle and make their own mark on the world while their elders are not yet ready to retreat into a life of ease is made clear without being laboured.
Genghis Khan is dead, he is succeeded by his son Empirf.

This is the final installmen I remember starting this series and thinking to myself just how little information we usually get about the Eastern cultures trough our educational system. Refresh and try again. Britannia Eagles of the Empire His story is quite interesting.
As one brother awaits his fate, another awaits his moment to seize power, while spies and assassins play out the ambitions and destinies of their masters. Then the action really heats up and like the previous books it is really good. Anticlimactic ending but the bulk of the book is excellent, ailver I should really check if the book I pick up at random is the fourth book in a series before I get pages in. His son Ogedai has built a white city on a great plain and made a capital for the new nation.
