Design Optimization of Reinforced Concrete Frames. Fiber-reinforced polymer FRP systems for strengthening concrete structures are an alternative to traditional strengthening techniques, such 440.2r08 steel plate bonding, section enlargement, and external post-tensioning. Debonding of the FRP strips or failure of the anchoring device results, as was to be expected, in relatively unsatisfactory FRP material exploitation.
The full and complete returned product will be accepted if returned within 60 days of receipt and in salable condition. The proposed guidelines are based on the knowledge gained from experimental research, analytical work, and field applications of FRP systems used to strengthen concrete structures. Moreover, the observed failure was that of zci fracture of the FRP strips for all such specimens.
The highest degree of FRP material exploitation was achieved in the specimen that utilizes a patented anchoring device together with two layers of SFRP strips. Scientific Research An Academic Publisher. Studying in this way the transfer of forces from the open hoop FRP strips, it could be demonstrated that when this type of retrofitting was accompanied with a properly designed anchoring device, a significant increase in the bearing capacity of the tested specimens was observed.
FRP strengthening systems use FRP composite materials as supplemental externally bonded reinforcement. This document offers general information on the history and use of FRP strengthening systems; a description of the unique material properties of FRP; and committee recommendations on the engineering, construction, and inspection of FRP systems used to strengthen concrete structures.
A novel loading arrangement was utilized to apply the necessary forces to these unit beam specimens together with instrumentation 440.2rr-08 of capturing the behaviour of these specimens up to failure. Open Journal of Civil EngineeringVol. Due to the characteristics of FRP materials as well as the behavior of members strengthened with FRP, specific guidance on the use of these systems is needed.
